When I started researching my trip to China I read about the show Impressions of Sanjie Liu and decided that it was one of the things I had to put on my list of to dos. I am so glad I did. To experience an outdoor show set on the lake surrounded by karst mountains made for a unique atmosphere and added to the cultural experience that was displayed during the show. Continue reading
During my time in Xian I went to the Tang Dynasty Show. It was an incredible production that included a dumpling meal and cultural show. The dancing, costumes and set were great. Although some of the “music” was peculiar and strange to my uneducated ears it was a great experience all round. Continue reading
A part of the tour I went on included the Kung Fu Show at the Red Theatre in Beijing. Since Kung Fu is full of action I decided to put together a little stop motion of a couple of the scenes rather than stills (video was not allowed)

Late last year I went on a whirlwind tour through China, some 5000 photos later, 10-15km of walking a day and over 24,000km in the air I made it back home in time for the mad rush of school holidays and Christmas. During the last holidays we went on a family holiday near my family in Northland at Te Ngaere Bay. I packed my camera and snuck early a few mornings and dragged the kids out for a drive some afternoons to give me a chance to do something I enjoy. As always I when I am around home I was not disappointed.
