Out & About: Winter Gardens
Last weekend I headed over to the Winter Gardens at the Auckland Domain. It is a beautiful place with a great collection of plants and an ideal place to play around with your macro lens. Here are a few images of what I found there.
Composition Printable
One of the things that will help improve your photography is working on your composition. When I teach an introduction to photography I cover composition tips and give the students this little print out they can carry around with them to remind them of some of the keys to keep in mind. I plan to do more in-depth posts on each of these areas starting next month, but for now I hope this little printable will be a good reference for you.

I have a preference towards using a wide aperture all of the time, so one of the things I decided I needed to challenge myself with and remind myself of is all the great things you can do when you play with shutter speed. Out & About: Kelly Tarltons Underwater World
Recently I volunteered as a parent helper on one of my boys school trips to Kelly Tarltons Underwater World. It was a fun place to try out some photos in a different environment. Most of the shots were of the kids for their school journals, but here of different things at the aquarium.
Out & About: Skins of Fire
Last week I took my parents to the show “Skins of Fire” by the French performers Groupe F. The performance consisted of video projection, fire works, fire balls and performers with lights and fireworks around them. It was an stimulating presentation of pyrotechnics and well worth the night out. Continue reading
