I have been doing digital photography now for 12 years, and all that time I have been lulled into a false sense of “that will never happen to me” when it comes to losing your images, having your laptop suddenly die on you or one of those nightmarish situations. It has been one year now since I started submitting work to micro stock libraries. With a one year old on my hip I was in need to something to get the creative juices flowing as well as give me freedom to work when I want while doing something I enjoy. Microstock seemed like a good option to try out. I know a lot of professional photographers despise micro stock and think it is ruining their business, and I am not here to argue a point, just to share my experience along the way.
I remember watching the movie “Eat Pray Love” a few years back and being struck by the scene where some one says something like “I asked who are you not what do you do”. I spent a long time thinking about that concept. I have often defined myself by what I do and not who I am. And although this blog driven by my passion for photography that is not where it ends.
