Last weekend I headed over to the Winter Gardens at the Auckland Domain. It is a beautiful place with a great collection of plants and an ideal place to play around with your macro lens. Here are a few images of what I found there.

Last month I did a post on ghosting in photos. Another way to use long shutter speeds to create fun images is panning. The aim of a panned image is to get the moving object to be clear while the background blurs with the movement. This method can take a lot of time and patience but it is a lot of fun to experiment with.
Last week I took my parents to the show “Skins of Fire” by the French performers Groupe F. The performance consisted of video projection, fire works, fire balls and performers with lights and fireworks around them. My son was learning about the celebrations at school and convinced us to go and check them out (it didn’t take that much convincing really). It has been one year now since I started submitting work to micro stock libraries. With a one year old on my hip I was in need to something to get the creative juices flowing as well as give me freedom to work when I want while doing something I enjoy. Microstock seemed like a good option to try out. I know a lot of professional photographers despise micro stock and think it is ruining their business, and I am not here to argue a point, just to share my experience along the way.
