As another year rolls by I found it was time once again to look at my microstock photography and see what the numbers can show me. I have now been contributing to stock agencies for two years. The first thing that struck me this year was that the area of images where I had the most sales was somewhat unexpected. My top images sales this year were from arabic sweets. And surprisingly that was also the top blog post over at my other blog thesweetexplorer.com
Last year I noted that my sales were made up from 60% of my images and this year that is also similar sitting at 62%. I have been surprised that some of those sales have been of some of my older images that I have been contemplating taking down.
My favourite image of the year is this simple image of a cupcake that I took while creating a time-lapse
Sales:
Company: | % of income | % of sales |
Shutterstock iStock Photo Dreamstime Bigstock Fotolia 123RF Deposit Photos Photo Dune Can stock |
42% 17% 10% 8% 9% 5% 4% 3% 2% |
46% 16% 1% 8% 14% 6% 3% 1% 5% |
One of my aims last year was to double the size of my portfolio which I have managed to do. My aim for the coming year is to start submitting stock footage, along side trying to double my portfolio again.
Some Milestones and Highlights
– doubling my portfolio
– getting close to making 1000 sales
– simply enjoying to create beauty through my images
– the first time finding one of my images in use
